GHQG Membership

The purpose of the Greater Hartford Quilt Guild is to promote awareness and appreciation of the art and heritage of quilt making, both among our membership, as well as the general public.

We invite you to join any of our member chapters, or to become an independent member of the Greater Hartford Quilt Guild.  Chapter members enjoy monthly meetings with a group of enthusiastic quilters in a region of the greater Hartford area.  In addition, chapter members and independent members enjoy all the advantages of membership:

• Admission to three yearly events (Annual Gathering, Sharing Day, Spring Program) free or at a minimal fee.
• Discounts at participating area quilt shops
• Subscription to GHQG's “Basting Lines” newsletter
• Invitations to lectures or workshops given by nationally known quiltmakers

Here are more details aboutthe two types of GHQG memberships.
Independent Membership – An Independent membership of Greater Hartford Quilt Guild gives you access to all the events and programs sponsored by the Greater Hartford Quilt Guild such as those events and programs listed below:

• Enter quilts into our biennial Quilt Shows
• Annual Gathering - A Fall event to kick off the year and have our once each year official guild wide meeting.
• Sharing Day - A Spring event with each Chapter showing their accomplishments
• Spring Lecture - A notable expert quilter gives a lecture on a technique
• Virtual lecture - A mid-Winter on-line event with an expert quilter who may not be able to come to CT for a lecture.
• Social media access - Our website GHQG.org has a members only section with sections that include interesting information for members. The password will be sent to you via email. There also is an active Facebook page.  
• Summer Picnic - A fun relaxing time at a park with members and their families. 
• Retreats when available - Usually offered in May and December.  
• Any other benefits decided upon by the Steering Committee of GHQG.

​Chapter Membership – One of the biggest advantages to joining a Chapter of GHQG is the opportunity to gain friendship with other quilters and learn from each other. Each Chapter has their own dues (about $12 - $20 for the year) to cover expenses related to their monthly programs. Other advantages gained by
a Chapter membership include all the events sponsored by GHQG stated above, plus the

• Monthly Meetings to build camaraderie
• Member’s Feedback and Advice – how to, color selection, share ideas
• Group Lectures – targeted specifically to the Chapter’s interest
• Group Workshops - educational sessions featuring techniques that Chapter is interested in
