We are an affiliation of quilters, with members throughout Connecticut and beyond.  As a group, our goal is to promote knowledge and appreciation of the art and heritage of quilt making.

Who We Are

​The Greater Hartford Quilt Guild is made up of local chapters (groups who meet monthly), and independent members.  We are traditional quilters, modern quilters, art quilters; beginners, experienced and in between.  A common love of quilting is the thread that binds us together.
 
Our chapter meetings and Guild programs provide a place to share the passion for quilting; share our knowledge of new and traditional techniques; and share our resources with each other and with our communities to make our quilting world a better place.

Our History

The Greater Hartford Quilt Guild began in 1980, with a small group of women sharing a common interest in quilting. It has grown into a not-for-profit organization with hundreds of members, most of whom participate in local chapters which meet monthly, in towns throughout Connecticut. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in quilting

Membership

We invite you to join any of our member chapters, or to become an independent member of the Greater Hartford Quilt Guild.

• At their choice, members may participate in one or more local chapters, where monthly meetings with speakers, workshops and activities provide an opportunity to meet other quilters and to hone their skills.
• Guild-subsidized workshops and lectures by nationally known quilters are offered, free or at an affordable fee. There is always a free virtual lecture in the winter and a free live Spring lecture. 
• Our newsletter, “Basting Lines”, provides information on Guild events, regional quilt related activities, chapter meetings, and members’ achievements.  You can access it on the (Basting Lines (members only) page this website.  You will receive a password for this page when you join.  
• Three yearly Guild events (our Annual Gathering, Sharing Day, and Spring Program) provide all members a chance to meet, share ideas and learn.  We have begun a summer picnic in 2023 and hope to continue this fun event.
• Members are invited to participate in the Greater Hartford Quilt Guild’s Quilt Show, to display their individual accomplishments and group projects.  
• Discounts to guild members are offered by  participating area quilt shops
