GHQG EventsThe GHQG holds a number of events for the public and our members including Annual Gathering, Sharing Day, a Spring Lecture, a Winter Virtual Lecture, two Member retreats and a biennial Quilt Show.

Annual Gathering
|
Each fall, one chapter of the GHQG hosts the Annual Gathering. After a short business meeting, this event continues with lectures by nationally-known quilters, designers and authors. Favors, vendors, boutiques, raffles and tag sales are frequently part of this event. Most years, the Annual Gathering is open to the public for a fee; the hosting chapter determines if space will permit opening it to the public, and also determines the fees of attending. It is always open to all GHQG members for a reduced price. Our last one was October 5, 2024, presented by Enfield Quilters. The speaker was Paula Nadelstern presenting “Symmetry and Surprise: The Kaleidoscope as Design Inspiration”

Hosted by Stafford Mill Town Quilters October 4, 2025 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Johnson Memorial Hospital CMEC Building 201 Chestnut Hill Road ( ROUTE 190 ) Stafford Springs CT Come celebrate our 20th anniversary with a day of creativity and inspiration. Speaker Beth Helfter of EvaPaige Quilt Designs will give her lecture “Consistency in the Chaos” at 1:00. Between vending by EvaPaige Quilt Designs and the SMTQ “Baa-Tique” you are sure to find something you can’t live without Raffle baskets - Raffle Quilt - Light refreshments will be available Plenty of free parking and reserved handicap spaces will be available $10.00 for early registration $12.00 at the door Register by September 15th and receive a special gift. Quilt Show
|
The GHQG Quilt show is a biennial event. Our most recent show was June 7 and 8, 2025 with the them "Every Quilt Tells a Story. The picture on the left is the Viewer's Choice winner created by Pat Beaudoin from Newington Schoolhouse Quilters. Pictures from this show and prior shows can be viewed in our Photo Gallery page.

Spring Lecture
|
Annually, GHQG presents a lecture by a well-known quilter for its members.
This lecture is free to all GHQG members In 2025 we had Karen Salemi from Framingham, MA present "Where Tradition Meets Improv".

Sharing Day |
Sharing Day is an event where the GHQG chapters and independent members of GHQG gather to share ideas, accomplishments, and fellowship. Chapters provide short demonstrations and display their challenge results and charity work.

Retreats |
GHQG hosts two members-only 4-day retreats. They are held annually in May and December at the Incarnation Center in Ivoryton, Connecticut.
